HERE'S SONGS YOU CAN DOWNLOAD FOR FREE and if ya really like 'em there's even a few with higher quality versions (192kbps) you can buy online at www.lulu.com. So don't be shy, click away and grab what ya want.

IF YOU'VE BEEN KEEPING SCORE YOU ALREADY KNOW part of the reason I've put these pages up is related to song writing and commercial exploitation. As a result some are works in progress and posted 'cause its easier than mailing out a CD every time I do a new mix. Others may be changed or rotated from time to time depending on what I'm trying to pitch and to whom. And a couple will probably always being hangin' around 'cause I like 'em enough to leave 'em as is. If you see a link marked AIR PLAY clicking it will bring up a JavaScript window with information on where the song is being played.

SONGS I'M WORKING ON WITH STEVE MADDEN that are currently in their "beta" mix stage. (See Who the heck is Steve Madden for more on him.) We're also noodling with the idea of putting together a blues band Delta Driver and at that page you can find lots more songs.

  • Queen Of Maybe - 4m31s (© Bergmann, Madden 2004 - 2008)
        Updated: June 12 2005
Like so many of my other songs this piece of Symphonic Rock started out as an instrumental track. Its the first song that Steve and I worked on and has gone through a couple of changes but its pretty close now.

  • Too Cool - 2m48s (© Bergmann, Madden 2005, 2008)
        Updated: September 27 2005
Another one of those tracks I'd recorded a few years back but didn't really have any vocals to go with it. This is a rough one take of what Steve came up with, really reminds me of "Stevie Idol". Not sure if I'm going to leave it like this or make him do a real vocal track.

  • Empty Room - 3m47s (© Madden 2005, 2008)
        Updated: September 8 2005
When Steve first played me this one I thought to myself, "This song has legs". His original version was slower and had a funkier feel than what you hear here but I thought a tempo change might give it more commercial appeal. I convinced him to try it a little faster with a pushy pants country feel and some slight rearrangement. I can only claim the very barest writing credit, this one is pretty much pure Steve. But if you like how the arrangement and production is coming along I will humbly take a small bow;-) Warning this is a very "nice" song and unlike anything you'd expect from a couple of old rockers.

  • Saints And Sinners - 4m13s (© Bergmann, Madden 2005, 2006)
        Added: September 27 2005
The first of many country-ish collaborations, probably best described as a Country Power Ballad.

IF YOU CAN GET PAST MY VOCAL STYliNGS you might get a kick out of this song. Its about SEX.

  • Betty Page (you're an old maid now) - 3m42s (© Bergmann 1997 - 2008)
        Added: July 7 2005
Unless you're a regular at the church choir you've probably heard of the original S&M queen Betty Page. Well the old darlin' from the fifties has a lot of fans world wide and some of 'em have formed "social groups" known as the Betty Page Society. And once a month in a dimly lit bar tucked somewhere in the underbelly of a city near you they have a little get together. And wouldn't ya know it, there I was one night right smack dab in the middle. Naturally the song describes what I saw. In case you're curious it ain't nothing like in the pornos. These are real people with real pimples, real rolls of fat and some are just plain real old (but also some are real nice when not in character). By the way, I knew the guy who was responsible for management instituting the No Whipping At The Bar rule.

SHORT INSTRUMENTAL PIECES that'd be hard to put vocals around so they're stayin' the way they are.

  • Wolfie - 2m30s (© Bergmann 2003 - 2008)
A rousing little piano piece done in the style of my hero Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. And no I can't play piano as well as this song would suggest but with the help of my computer you'd almost think so. Nice tune to wake up to and get yer day going.

  • Piano02 - Sonata in C - 1m47s (© Bergmann 1998 - 2008)
        Added: June 12 2005
Another classical piano piece. Slower paced than Wolfie and to my limited knowledge is best described as a Sonata.

SONGS I'VE HAD COMMERCIAL SUCCESS WITH to some degree or another.

  • Pale Blues - 3m41s (© Bergmann 2001 - 2008)   AIR PLAY
Pale Blues which was my so called hit at www.garageband.com and it did very well I might add. At one point charting number 11 overall out of about 20,000 songs, number 3 on the Blues chart (out of 850), voted best blues guitar 2 1/2 months running, and oh yeah track of the day back around April 14 2002. As well it was released on a Garageband Evolved CD blues compilation. A dreamy instrumental with soaring guitars that'll take ya places.

  • Pounding - 3m17s (© Bergmann 1999 - 2008)
A nasty tune about feeling like hell the "day after" and ya just gotta go out and find something to make it all better. This song was used in the feature film April Is My Religion (director Bill Boll) as a background track during a college dorm scene involving substance abuse. Very appropriate I might add.
